Speech Therapy
This is a modern and very specialized branch of therapy offered at UDICHI by professional person specially trained in “Speech & Language therapy” to patients with difficulty in verbal communication.
There are wide varieties of patients in this group including children born with congenital deafness, delayed developmental milestones (Autism, ADHD etc.), Stammering, Stuttering and also adult speech impairments caused by stroke, brain injuries and other conditions.
Natural speech development in a child starts from an average age of six months (babbling etc.) onwards and by the age of two to three years a child can normally speak in his own language that he is listening to. The entire procedure principally depends on hearing acuity from birth and the optimum learning phase of speech is between three to five years. If a baby doesn’t develop normal speech by the age of seven, it is very difficult (if not impossible) for the baby to speak normally ever in future (because of permanent loss of Auditory and Neural plasticity in the brain).
So it is not only of utmost importance but essential to identify any possible deafness at birth or immediately after, as a cause of non-development or delayed development of speech and start necessary treatment at earliest in the form of assisted hearing (hearing aid etc.) and intensive speech therapy to prevent from being Deaf and Dumb in future.
Behavior Therapy
This is a combined approach of Special Educator and Speech & Language Pathologist that include psychological assessment and cognitive behavior therapy for the most common childhood conditions like ADHD, Autism, behavior disorder, anxiety, depression, disruptive behavior disorder and so on.
At UDICHI these childhood behavioral disorders are dealt with very carefully, bringing both the child and parent into counselling. With the help different toys, games, paintings, music etc. social rehabilitation of these children are done with the hope of sending them in normal or any special school as the situation fits in.
Pharmacy
UDICHI ENT CENTRE has a well-stocked pharmacy of its own at out- patients department in second floor. All common medicines are available here and are dispensed at a discounted rate so that the patients don’t need to search around in outside medicine shops.
Apart from outdoor medicines all sorts of disposable and consumable items and the injections and drugs for indoor patients and surgical cases are directly supplied to the ward or the operation theater, thereby reducing any harassment of patients to buy from outside.
